There are some things in life that we simply have to accept.
Why?
So we can feel more at peace!
And we can stop fighting and trying to change them when we actually cannot!
Let me show you how that works.
You can control lots of things!
I always love talking about what you have control over and what you do not such as:
As you can see, there are things that are simply out of your control.
But let me give more details about those hard-to-swallow-pills!
The 5 Hard-To-Swallow Pills
The idea came to me when seeing a meme on Pinterest from the artist Dani Donovan.
So, these are the 5 hard-to-swallow pills:
1. You aren’t responsible for anybody else’s happiness.
Happiness is a feeling that we feel from thoughts that we have.
As much as we want to, we cannot control other people’s thoughts so we cannot control other people’s happiness, which should feel like a relief! 🙂
Of course, you can ask what would make them happy but then, you will see that the person is sharing with you what makes them happy, so YOU aren’t responsible for it, they are.
Just like YOU are responsible for YOUR happiness.
2. You cannot control other people.
We always want to control other people’s behavior/thoughts/feelings so WE can feel better.
And you probably tried yourself and saw that it’s just not working the way we want it to, right? 🙂
Understand that adults are free to do whatever they want to and that they cannot be controlled.
You cannot be controlled either, right? 🙂
3. It’s okay to feel bad sometimes.
We tend to go against this pill and really now wanting to swallow it!
We better accept the way we are feeling and not resist the emotions.
Otherwise, it has an unpleasant/hurting feeling of compounding effect of feeling bad and then on top of that, feeling bad about feeling bad!
We sometimes feel bad and that’s okay, let’s just accept it as a fact and after a bit of time, it’s passing, just like every kind of emotion.
4. No matter what choices you are making, people will have something to say.
I loved that one!
Sometimes, we are afraid of making decisions because we wonder what people will think of us!
The thing is, people will have something to say no matter what.
Have you ever take a decision, thinking you could control other people’s opinion of you and in the end, it was still not good enough?!
How frustrating!
So, make choices that YOU want to make, for yourself and for your life because honestly, considering other people’s opinions, it won’t be good enough! 🙂
5. It’s not what is happening to you that makes you feel this way but the way you interpret it.
We often think that something is wrong with us and things are happening against us!
But actually, it’s never what is happening to us that truly matters but what thoughts we have about it, what we make it mean.
This is AMAZING news because it shows us that we can go through many things in life and do not need to necessarily take them that hard!
We can choose how to react to them.
We don’t have to over suffer through them!
Accepting = peace of mind!
When you accept and swallow those pills, you’re going to feel more peaceful!
Because you will realize that it’s a fight that you simply cannot win.
So, it’s better to just accept it and not swim against it.
Easier said than done but come on, you have to agree that it makes it easier not to fight against something you will never be able to win or improve!
Building your self-confidence!
When you accept those hard-to-swallow pills, you’re going to feel more in control of your life.
When this happens, you feel more confident.
You feel like you have more influence on what you’re doing and the way you’re feeling.
To sum up!
As you can see, we make the word “accepting” sound kind of negative but it’s not!
It’s really about finding more peace in what you cannot change.
The moment you realize this, it will set you free!
No need to struggle more, no need to fight more battles!
Give yourself a break and on the way, build your confidence! 🙂
