This technique was made for you!
I used to spend a lot of time on tasks that shouldn’t take me that much time… But I didn’t have any strategy or technique, again, we never learned it at school 🙂
So I’m SO HAPPY to share with you this amazing technique that I just discovered and that truly COMPLETELY changed my way of being efficient and productive at work or at home.
Say what? Why this name? Pomodoro what?
I was also wondering why this technique was called the Pomodoro Technique!
I looked up for it and discovered that the name of the inventor of this “set timer for 25 minutes” method is Francesco Cirillo. Back in the 80’s, he simply used a timer like this one:
How does it work?
Ok, so it’s very simple. It’s a straightforward method that will help you to break down work into intervals.
The result is that you will be able to work better for a certain amount of time, you will become more productive and more efficient.
And this is how it works:
- Choose a task and set your timer for 25 minutes.
- Give everything :), work hard during these 25 minutes.
- After these 25 minutes, when the timer rings, make a 5 minutes break, stand up, walk, free your mind for 5 minutes, no exception!
- Go back to the task if it’s not finished (choose a different one if you’re done) and set your timer for 25 minutes.
- Repeat this until you’ve done 4 periods of 25 minutes.
- Take a longer break (15-30 minutes) and then you can start a new cycle of 4 periods of 25 minutes with each time, 5 minutes between each one of them.
Try it out and you’ll see, you’ll get used to it very easily and it will become a habit 🙂

- Productivity.
Of course, you are way more productive, because, in just 25 minutes, you’ll work more efficiently than when you know that you have all day long to do something. Why are we like this you’re asking? I’m also wondering! 😉 Sometimes, I have so much time to do something and it’s just taking me A LOT of time!! Until I found this technique 😉 - Motivation.
Since you know how much time you have to work on this task (25 minutes, at least, to start with), it’s giving you the push, the motivation to work harder. - Manage distractions.
This method will help you not checking your phone all the time because you’re committed for these 25 minutes to just concentrate on the task you’re working on! If you’re at work or even at home, simply tell the person that is soliciting your attention to wait for you to finish these 25 minutes of concentration and that you’ll be right away.
