Decision making…
We all need to make TONS of decisions every single day!
Very often, we are not conscious and make decisions unconsciously, repeating the same decisions we always took and that’s okay!
The decision of brushing your teeth before going to bed is perfectly fine to be an automated one!
But the very first thing today that I want you to do is to start by being more aware of the decisions you’re making, you don’t know what you don’t know so later today, just pay attention to some of the decisions you’re making, for example, related to:
- The food you choose to eat
- The tasks you do at work
- What you do after work
This is already a great start! 🙂
We all have a future self!
Then and of course, it’s important to be aware of this in the first place!
When it comes to these 3 “time areas” of your life:
- The food you choose to eat
- The tasks you do at work
- What you do after work
Take a second now and really think of HOW you would behave the most “perfect”, not maybe “perfect” but more “appropriate” way ever?
For example, what is the kind of food you would choose to eat if you can think now of a way that you truly want to feed yourself?
And it doesn’t have to be with only healthy food! Just consider a future version of yourself that could eat in the “best” way for her.
For example, for me, when it comes to eating, I would feed myself with food that feels good in my body.
And I loooove eating outside so much! So it’s not always about eating something healthy at home.
It’s more for me about stopping when I’m not hungry anymore and… As I shared with you many times on this podcast, to stop snacking at night because then I really don’t feel good when I go to sleep.
So, what is it for you? Are you okay with the way you eat?
What could be different if everything would be possible?
And the same for the tasks at work and what you do after work!
How would your future self approach them?!
Make decisions TODAY from your future self!
The way to go is the following one: Starting today, you can ACT as your future self.
What do I mean by that?
For example, I mentioned that I would like to stop snacking at night when I watch TV.
So, first, I’m conscious that this is the change that I would like to make to become that future self!
You never know what you don’t know! Becoming aware is amazing step #1!!
Then, when you find yourself in a situation you need to make a decision (in that case, should I snack or not when comes the night and the amazing TV show), I ask myself:
What would future Tamara do in this situation?
What decision would she make?
It’s very simple!! But not that easy but it’s okay!!
She would probably breathe into the emotion of wanting to snack and would then, MOVE ON to watching TV and enjoying it because she knows she’s going to bed after feeling GREAT because she did not snack!
Again, it’s not about what you should do or shouldn’t do but really about WHO you want to be in this world, WHO you want to become!
You are not stuck in a personality or tendencies to snack at night, you can become WHOEVER you want to become, I have absolutely no doubt about that!!
So, think about this future self in this situation:
What would your future self THINK?
What would you FEEL?
What would you then DO?
A quick example of tasks at work!
When I do something for work and I have some thoughts such as “you’re tired, you don’t really have to do this” I’m totally okay with knowing that it’s my present self observing these thoughts from my brain!
The time has come to take a decision: Am I listening to that voice? Or actually… What would my future think, feel and do?
I know right away what she would do!!
This is what I want to offer you today.
To realize first WHO you want to become and then, to ACT as if!
To make decisions from this future version of yourself!
I know that sometimes the stretch between who you are today and who you want to be can be big, it can be a big gap really!
But it’s all fine with where you are today.
You have to be somewhere and there’s nothing wrong with you!
Start where you are, follow what I share here and you’ll be on your way to becoming THAT future version of yourself!!
