This post and episode will be quite special, I’ve never done it before!
I wanted to use my podcast as an inspiration for you to build your confidence.
Let me show you what I mean by that!
January 2019
In December 2018, I thought of having a podcast!
I was listening to a few and I always felt this urge to help others millennials like me build their confidence.
I felt it in my bones because I hear people talking about themselves saying things such as:
- “I’m really not sure I could get this job!”
- “I wonder what they would think if I would quit my job!”
- “I’ve never done this before, I don’t know how to do it…”
- “People will judge me for making that decision…”
- “I should maybe not…”
- “This is who I’ve always been, so I cannot…”
When I was hearing this and maybe because I used to be a teacher, I realized how much we can actually teach confidence at school!
It’s not completely clear to me exactly how we could do that but for sure we could actually teach it!
And also many other personal development tools such as communicating better, not taking things personally… Things that are really helpful in our day-to-day life as adults (and as kids and teenagers!).
So, I started the Get Confident, Get Happy Podcast in January 2019.
I knew I was feeling genuinely better feeling more confident so this is how I came up with the idea of the title: more confidence = more happiness.
Because when you have control over your life and you know that you have your own back (confidence), you genuinely feel better and more happiness.
That being said… I changed so much in the past 3 years and a half so my podcast changed too!
The evolution!
I started with selling online courses on how to build your confidence.
So, the episodes of my podcast were focused on sharing what I think was helpful when it comes to confidence and to then helping my people more by sending them to take my course.
It was really interesting but I felt like I was missing talking to real people.
When you sell online courses, what you do is a lot of marketing which could be a way to look at as talking to people! But I really wanted to go back to coaching (I got certified in 2015) and to talking straight with people, in real!
That’s what I’ve decided to do in December 2021. So, since January 2022, I’m sharing more tips and tricks on how to be more confident, and then, since every journey is different, I offer my people to work with me 1-on-1.
Now you have all the background and here is why it matters for you!
Why it matters for you!
It’s funny because many times, I thought of starting a new podcast because I wasn’t sure that what I recorded was aligned with who I was the more I evolved!
I kind of was ashamed of some episodes I have to say!
So I’ve decided to look at it a different way.
How is all of my podcast which includes every single one of my episodes, how is my podcast a perfect example of building your confidence?
1. It shows that you can start where you are!
Sometimes, we think that we have to be “ready” somehow to start doing something.
Or that we should wait for “September” to start!
But do you know when is the best time to start? Right now!
So, take a minute now to think about something that you’ve been waiting to do or to start!
It could be:
- Learning something new
- Taking more time for yourself
- Saying “no” more
- Many more!
You will only know how to do it, how to improve, the moment you do it!
We always want to make sure it’s going to be good enough, that we will be good enough but there is a middle between the extremes of being amazing at something and not being good at all!
And it could be interesting to ask yourself also: What is stopping you from starting?
You know when I hear from my coaching clients that they want to start being fit, they usually say that never kept doing it so they don’t know why they should bother trying now!
But you can ALWAYS start wherever you are, no matter the amount of “fails”, no matter the identity you set for yourself such as “I’m like this, I’m just not good at going to the gym”…
So, take a minute and think about something you’re “waiting” to start… And consider that you can start right now, just as you are right now, just where you are!
Please, just have a look at how I talked in my very first episode!!
I was a great coach, I was already coaching people etc., but I was really not “ready” to start a podcast! You can feel the hesitation in my voice!
2. It’s okay that it’s messy!
I know that many people and mentors are saying that you shouldn’t start a podcast when you first start.
I did not know this so I started a podcast with whom I was back then and my only plan was to help people build this confidence that they were lacking of because we did not learn it at school!
But it was really messy I have to say.
If you would listen to episode #7 called The 80-20 Rule & How It Can Change Your Life, you would discover the idea of Pareto, this is why it’s called the Pareto principle and how it matters when it comes to building your confidence.
And I don’t know if you know the principle but in big lines, Pareto was an economist and he basically showed that in economics, 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts. No matter the model, it will always work this way, not only in economics!
And what is funny is that I’ve seen how we can use it when it comes to building our confidence.
So, I presented this in my episode but I have to say that it was a bit messy!
Listen to this part (MINUTE 6), I’m sharing an example on how the rule applies to me when it comes to my productivity, it’s really nice sharing and cute but it’s a bit messy!
The way I talk is again a bit hesitant, it’s very funny to me to listen to these episodes I have to say…
The 2 questions to ask yourself:
1. How can you be proud of something you’ve done in your past?
No matter what it is that you’re trying to do or that you want to do for yourself.
It now all comes down to the way we are looking at our past.
If it’s for example the idea of going to the gym or working out (taking this as an example because it came up lately A LOT in my coaching sessions with my clients).
I hear my clients beating themselves up because they did not stick to their plan of going often etc., but how can you be proud of the way you went to the gym? That maybe you tried many times? That you had amazing intentions?
How can you look at it differently?
It’s interesting also because sometimes, the more we beat ourselves up, the more we make it mean something about ourselves such as:
- “I just cannot stick to a schedule…”
- “Working out isn’t for me…”
- “I should try something else…”
But what if you would really look at it in a way that serves you better?
The past is the past anyway! 🙂 if they would be the possibility of using a time machine and changing our past, I would definitely help you out! 😉
2. How could it be true that it went exactly the way it was supposed to go??
Sometimes, we really think that things should have gone differently!
That it should have “worked for us”, that we should have done this and said that.
But I’ve decided to look at my podcast a different way: I’m not sure I would record the exact same episodes if I could go back in time but… I definitely can not! 🙂
So, why not accept (no need for loving it!) that it happened exactly the way that it was supposed to happen and now you can do anything that you want?
What about dropping that story that you should have stick to your schedule of going to the gym?
What would happen if you would accept that you did what you did in the past exactly the way you were supposed to?
Think about it for a minute! 🙂

To sum up!
As you can see, you can always choose what you want to make it mean.
No matter what choices you made, or what you did, you can always choose to look at something in any way that you want, in any way that serves you the most!
I started my podcast in January 2019 and I have to say, I would not start the same AT ALL if I would start it today!
But how I choose to look at the start is MY CHOICE, I can choose what serves me the most.
To feel ashamed or to wish it would be different isn’t helpful to me!
So, I choose to look at it as a great example of building our confidence: It doesn’t have to be perfect, we don’t have to be perfect!
The goal of my podcast was really to help millennials just like me build their confidence. I got emails from people saying that it was very helpful to them!
So… Think about what do YOU want? And what are you waiting for to start?
When will you be ready? Do you need to be ready?
What if your past has nothing to do with what you can do now and in the future?
What if there is some truth in this?
