I know that this title can make you wonder what I’m going to talk about today so…
Let’s have a look right now what do I mean by this result!!
We always want a result…
I realized that when someone is approaching me for coaching, they usually know that they want something else for themselves or for their life.
In the past few weeks, this is what they came up with and asked for coaching around:
- Wanting to be more productive
- Making sure they’re on the right path career-wise
- Fight less with their partner
- Improve their relationship with their mother
- Approach motherhood with more fun and less apprehension
- Etc.!
And here I realized something: We all know that we want a specific result such as the one I talked about right now (not always, sometimes, we know we want some change but we aren’t sure what that looks like and it’s fine!) but what I’d like to show here is that we are only measuring our success by that end result that could look like such as:
- Wanting to be more productive: here we need to know how that looked like maybe doing what we planned to do?
- Making sure they’re on the right path career-wise: this could be finding a new job and leaving this one? Or the way around?
- Fight less with their partner, how would that look like?
- Improve their relationship with their mother
- Approach motherhood with more fun and less apprehension
- Etc.!
Be specific on the end result to have more clarity!
So, actually, it’s important to start by thinking of what we would like in our life, what result, and to be actually as specific as possible.
Because as you could see right before, the results were not very specific and you always can ask yourself: How would that look like?
So, if you take the same ideas from before, think about how would you know, when you would be able to say “yes, that’s a result I got!”, it’s important to even ask yourself because you can find yourself wanting to achieve a certain result but not knowing how does that look like actually!
- Wanting to be more productive
- Making sure they’re on the right path career-wise
- Fight less with their partner
- Improve their relationship with their mother
- Approach motherhood with more fun and less apprehension
How does that look like?!
You can measure your effort with anything that you want!
And here, and this si the center of the topic of this week to build your confidence, I think that it’s important to measure your efforts and your success NOT based on the result you want to achieve but on something else.
Why is that?
The problem with measuring the end result is that on some days, it can be very hard to stay motivated and to have a compelling reason because it seems so far-fetched from where you are right now!
Looking at the big picture and at every small step you took is way more rewarding and will create more momentum!
So here you can be creative by asking yourself: How can I measure my success with this that I want without needing to GET there?
Also and this is very important: It’s not usually what we achieve that is SO important but the very transformative thing is WHO we become when we achieve this thing!
From all the ups and downs, you develop amazing skills that make you a completely different person!!
But let’s take an example that will make things easier!!
The example of losing weight…
I’m helping 3 beautiful clients right now with that goal and what they want is to get down to a certain number of kilos.
We’re talking a lot about measuring your efforts and everything you do NOT to this end number they want to get to! Otherwise, it looks quite far and hard to get to finally feel better!
One of them decided that one way to look at being successful for her looks like this:
- Breathing through the urge of wanting to eat something when she’s not hungry
- Stopping to eat when she’s full and there’s still food on her plate
- Eating whatever she wants at the restaurant and not feel bad about it
And, it does not mean that it’s always perfect!
It does not mean that each week she’s losing weight and everything!
It looks like she’s moving toward her goal, what she really wants, every single day.
When we coach once a week, we talk about the week and how every day, she did one tiny step toward her goal.
And it means that she maybe overate for any reason one day and the little victory here is that she did not beat herself up for doing it!
We discussed many times what success can look like for her every day, every week, and not ONLY when she will get to that number she really wants to get to!
So, really, I want you to consider here that your success, your happiness, the way you’ll be fulfilled DOES NOT have to be to when you’re going to get to that goal or get what it is that you want!!
You can measure it by ANYTHING that you want and anything you believe in that makes you feel good!
I talked about this in a recent podcast episode that is called “The gift of acceptance” and I was saying that often, we measure where we are ONLY to where we want to be!
But so much happened until today, you already tried so many things!! You’re way closer than ever!!
It’s like someone that wants to lose weight and try everything, when they come to the coaching they are perfectly ripe to get coached and get the best out of it!
Of course, anyone that wants to be coached is perfect 😉 but what I’m trying to say here is to never forget where you start, all the way you’ve come and it’s definitely part of it!!
If your goal is to be more productive and you’re done with a task, it’s already a stone the pyramid of productivity!!!

So, for today you have to:
1. Think of something you would like to be different in your life, something that is important for you!
2. Ask yourself: How would that look like, when I’m going to get there? How would I know that I “got” there?
3. How can I measure my success without the need to BE there already? How can I measure my everyday success, so I can continue believing that I’m going to get there, and have momentum?
And here, you can be as creative as you want!
Also, the amount of money, if you want to earn a certain amount, you can ask yourself:
How am I already on my way?
And of course, the best question ever: How am I already successful?
