“Why is this happening to me?”
You feel sometimes that things are working against you!
That you did not deserve what’s going on, right?
Let me show you how to deal with this and how it will help you build your confidence!
It’s never what’s happening, it’s what we make it mean…
You probably heard me say it many times!
In life, it’s not the events that are happening in our life that make us feel a certain way but how we interpret it!
This is why we have different memories of the same situation!
Because we all look at the reality with our own glasses: from our own experiences, our past, our beliefs how the world is supposed to be, what’s right, what’s wrong, etc.
So, again, it’s not what is really happening that makes us feel a certain way but what we make it mean, which is amazing news!
Nothing is really happening against us! Nothing is wrong with us, we can just reframe all of it and feel better! 🙂
You’ll always find proof of what you think!
I really like that idea!
Don’t you have days that you feel like “everything is going wrong today, it’s just not my day!”.
The funny thing is and very interesting is that the more you think that, the more you’re going to see proof of it in your day-to-day life!
If you think for example that “everything is going wrong today”, you’ll see evidence of that!
The car isn’t starting the way it’s supposed to, you don’t find parking, people are late, the food you ordered isn’t arriving, people are not doing what they said they would do…
All of this really shows you that “everything is going wrong today!”
Very first step: Be aware of what you think!
As always, raising awareness is VERY HELPFUL.
Human beings, we have more than 60’000 thoughts per day!
Start by being more aware of that little voice talking to you all day long!
Simply become the observer of what’s going on inside of your head.
Pay attention from a place of curiosity and compassion, no need to judge anything you’ll find.
Just be aware, you don’t have to do anything, just to raise awareness! 🙂
Don’t believe everything you think!
The moment you pay attention to what you think, remind yourself that as much as it seems true, you don’t have to believe everything you think!
It’s not because you think something that it’s necessarily true.
I remember that realizing this changed so much to me!
I felt empowered because I really always believed that what I thought was my reality but actually, I can think something and I don’t have to believe it!
That’s amazing, right? 🙂
Taking things lightly!
As I showed you, it’s not what’s happening to your life that makes you feel a certain way but the way you interpret it, what you make it mean.
For example, you might get mad that the waiter didn’t write down your order good and you feel like he did it against you!
Here’s what I want to offer you today: As you can see, it’s never really against you even if we may interpret it like this!
So, what if you could take things more lightly?
I’m not saying to ignore the negative emotion!
It’s important to feel your feelings, but what if after paying attention to what you’re thinking, you could ask yourself: Can I take that more lightly?
Going back to the example of the waiter and your order not being right, what if you could look at it and ask yourself “How can I take that more lightly?”
How can I show up differently that will make me feel better in that situation?
I can be mad at first but then, I can also realize that I can take it lightly, nothing has gone wrong, it’s fine! 🙂
Down the line, we always want to feel a certain way!
You actually have a LOT of influence on that! 🙂
Taking things lightly = building your self-confidence!
The very first step as I said before is to be aware of what you are thinking and of the way you are feeling.
It’s always a better idea not to resist them! They pass way faster if we just acknowledge them!
But then, you can ask yourself if there is a way you could take things a bit more lightly?
Trying to switch from thinking that this happened on purpose and against you but just to accept that it wasn’t really against you!
You will then feel way more in control and guess what, feeling more in control is an AMAZING boost for your confidence journey!
Imagine your life, how would it be if you would take things a bit more lightly? 🙂
How would it be different and how would you feel?
So empowering, right? 🙂
To sum up!
As you can see, you actually CAN take things more lightly!
No need to believe that everything is happening against you and that something’s wrong with you! 🙂
The very first steps are to acknowledging the way you’re feeling and what you are thinking.
Then, you can always ask yourself: Is there a way I can take that more lightly?
How would my life be different? How would I feel?
