What’s missing in your life?
I absolutely LOVE that question because it’s helping you focus on what you think is missing in your life.
The most common answers I got are these:
- Love
- Connection
- Career-growth
- Financial stability
- Time
- Energy
- Fun
You can think of anything else.
If you take a minute to ask yourself: What’s missing in your life, what is it?
And you don’t have to take it in a too “heavy” side.
What I mean by that is that some people that I’m asking them this, they’re telling me that “I don’t want to look at what is missing in my life”.
I’m always very curious so I’m asking them “why” and they tell me that they want to focus on what they truly want!
This is also an amazing level of awareness but you don’t have to fall into the hole of “negativity” around asking yourself “what’s missing in your life”.
Nothing is wrong with knowing what you think is missing in your life, it’s not adding anything negative or positive, it just is a way to start going in a direction to live the life you really want to live.
Starting by knowing the cause of not having it
One way to start is the moment you know what’s missing in your life, we can start talking about the cause of not having it let.
And this is the secret of the universe.
The only reason why you don’t have what you think is missing in your life is because of THE THOUGHTS you’re having.
So, the first thing we’re looking at at this point is what you’ve been thinking that did not bring you that result that you want, YET.
It’s not over until it’s over! 🙂
What do you want to think on purpose? What do you want to believe?
Then and here I’m talking about a few coaching sessions, it’s not happening in an hour!
From there, we start discussing and focusing on what we want to think on purpose in every moment we want to take action towards that goal.
Why is that?
Because again, the only reason why we don’t have what we want yet is because of what we are currently thinking!
And this, my friends, is absolutely AMAZING news!
Imagine, the only thing that needs to change is something that we actually CAN control, that we have an impact on!
An example: Going on dates and finding love
An example that I absolutely LOVE talking about (because I’ve been coaching A LOT on that topic lately) is someone that is going on dates and that wants to find love, to be in a romantic relationship.
So, we are first talking about specific situations that are problematic to them, when they feel like “something’s wrong”.
For example: during the date, they find themselves judging the other and not having a good time, after the date, they’re not comfortable texting…
We talk about each situation and together we discover what’s going on in their brain.
There’s nothing right or wrong here, it’s really more about being curious about what’s going on.
I remember one client told me that during the date, the moment the other person said something that she did not like, she said to herself “we aren’t agreeing on this so it’s never going to work”.
Again here, no judgment at all on what we are finding on what’s going on in her brain. It’s not good or bad, it just is! 🙂
So, then, we are discussing how she’s acting during the date at that point when she’s thinking this.
And we discovered that she’s becoming more silent, she’s less “there” because she already kind of decided in her head that that was it!
After talking about this a bit more, she decides what she wants to think instead at that moment in the future.
If her brain comes up with a thought such as “we aren’t agreeing on this so it’s never going to work!”, she’s just going to be aware that this thought will come up and that from now on, she’s going to think and believe something else such as “we aren’t agreeing on this and that’s okay for now”.
You see the difference?
Because again, the thing that matters the most is what WE ARE THINKING! 🙂
It’s very very summarized here… But I’m telling you, the power of it is absolutely INCREDIBLE! It sounds corny but it’s true: It can definitely change your life.
How it’s related to building your self-confidence…
When you’re being coached on anything that you want for yourself or for your life, we are discovering what is going on in your brain.
And what I like the most about this is that then, you feel more in control of yourself, your life.
You discover the life-changing idea that you don’t have to believe everything you think and also, that not everything you believe is actually TRUE!
It can just be stories you’ve been telling yourself.
So, this is all how it starts and this is how it helps build your confidence: You’re more aware of what you’re thinking and you feel more in control.
To sum up!
As you can see, no matter what problem you’re facing it’s actually a thought problem.
No matter what you want for yourself or for your life, the only reason why you don’t have it yet is because of what you are thinking.
And again, this is AMAZING news!! It means that it’s totally within your control!
You can absolutely do this.
Many people that reach for what they really want, it has nothing to do with them being a special talented creature!
They just were able to get more control of their brain and to believe thoughts that were and are actually more serving them!
So… The answer to my question “what’s missing in your life?” is not if you can or not, but WHEN do you want it?!
