There are some days we’re feeling like “life is tough…”
It’s actually TOTALLY normal you might be feeling this way!!
Let me tell you what to do when this happens! 🙂
Life is a big burrito!
I heard a life coach saying one time that life is like a big burrito!
Of course, you’re going to tell me that everything in a burrito is very tasty…!
But what I want to say is that there are a lot of ingredients inside and that’s what makes it so SPECIAL!
What if this were the case in life too?
Sometimes, we don’t feel good and sometimes we do feel good!
Some days are better than others and maybe that’s just the way things are…?
Imagine if we would have less resistance to how things were?
What if we would surrender to the “hard parts” in life, to the adversity?
What is in our control: Our thoughts ABOUT that toughness!
I think that we can control adversity as much as we can but… Some things are out of our control.
But our thoughts, what we decide to think intentionally about these circumstances are 1000% in our control!
So, let’s say that some days are tough, some things happen and life GETS HARD.
So what do you do? At first, you just allow yourself to feel BAD. For 10 minutes! No need for toxic positivity here!
It’s not because “we have everything to be happy” that you have to be happy all the time!
You also have a human brain that if it’s working perfectly, it’s offering you negative thoughts because it’s looking for danger!
So, feel bad for 10 minutes.
After these 10 minutes of feeling really bad, take a piece of paper and write down with bullet points the FACTS of what’s happening.
Facts are very neutral circumstances, so, are allowed: not working, leaving job, diagnostic, birthday party canceled, trip postponed…
These are the MATHS.
Then, write down your THOUGHTS about those facts, here, we call it the DRAMA.
As you can see, this is our automate way to think about those circumstances.
And nothing has gone wrong! Your brain won’t offer you the best thought ever regarding a fact, a circumstance!! It will offer you the QUICKEST thought possible, not sure it will be the one that will be serving you the most!
So… What do you choose to think intentionally about those circumstances?
From now on, it’s totally okay your brain will offer you thoughts like it always has been!
Such as “this shouldn’t happen…” or “life should be better” or even “this always happens to me!”…
You now can CATCH your brain telling you this and NOT believe it!!
These are just thoughts, they are the DRAMA!
Go back to the maths.
What do you want to believe about these neutral facts?
You don’t have to be excited about looking for a job!
But what more neutral emotion do you want to feel? Maybe ambitious?
What would you need to think to feel ambitious? “I can totally find a job that I like!”
Try thoughts on like you would try clothes in a store and see if you feel the emotion you’re trying to feel.
Also, and last but not least, I recently learned the coaching technique Positive Intelligence and it was SO INTERESTING!!
It says that to everything happening to us/for us, there is always an opportunity, a gift.
Is it too far-fetched for you to consider this…?

In summary…
As you can see, the very first thing to do when life gets tough is to first feel all the emotions.
Don’t try to cheer you up but simply, feel bad for 10 minutes, I allow you to!
Then, write down the MATHS (neutral facts, neutral circumstances) VS the DRAMA!
What are your thoughts about what is happening?
Then, decide what you want to be thinking intentionally about those circumstances.
Take it step by step, do your best!!
You can totally be in control of the way you’re feeling ALL THE TIME because you know the way you feel comes from what you are thinking.
