It is a VERY COMMON thought!
You probably had it once, if you did not you’re a lucky one!!
Let’s see what you to do when this thought comes up…
What You Will Learn...
It’s just on repeat!
You know that we all have 60’000 thoughts per day and very often, we are unconscious of what we are thinking and the consequences that these thoughts have on our life!!
But now that you know a bit more about all of this, you’re much more aware and I guess and hope that you started to question what you believe!!
You know that what you’re thinking isn’t always true (it’s 99.8% of the time NOT true!).
So, why does THIS thought “I’m maybe not good enough” is still showing up more than you actually would want it to show up??
No need to analyze the origin in that case!!
You know that I’m ALL IN for self-coaching and understanding the reason, the cause behind every problem/struggle we are facing.
But this is the exception to the rule!!
From now on, it’s going to be very simple, not that easy at the start but it WILL I promise!
These kinds of thoughts that fall under the same umbrella (I’m maybe not good enough, something’s wrong with me, I’m not totally normal…), from now on, you’re going to CATCH THEM when they show up.
So, in a specific moment, you SEE yourself thinking one of these thoughts.
You go out of your body and observe yourself thinking!
It’s totally fine that your brain is offering you these thoughts!
And as I said it before, you don’t have to look at the cause or origin of it.
Simply, observe these thoughts, these words next to each other.
And take a step back and just tell yourself these words:
“These are just words next to each other, this thought is not true, it’s just a thought and I’m choosing to observe it.”
By saying this to yourself, you’ll be on your way to less IDENTIFY yourself with the thought, you detach yourself from it!
You think these thoughts but don’t believe them anymore…
This is a distinction that deserves a separate podcast episode!!
You are NOT your thoughts, you have thoughts.
It’s like the famous meme “you have fingernails, you are NOT a fingernail”!
There’s absolutely NO PROBLEM at all with thinking a thought.
The only problem appears when we tend to BELIEVE a thought!
Then it generates an emotion and you then take an action (or DON’T take an action!).
So, it’s all about becoming more aware of what you are thinking, just observe what it is and what you are BELIEVING, just start by telling yourself that you believe these thoughts a bit less from now on because you are observing them, you see that they are just words!!
You don’t always have to dig into stuff…
This sounds very controversial but I do believe that you do not have to dig into the origin or cause of these kinds of thoughts.
Remember that your brain’s job is to keep you ALIVE, not to make you happy!
Be on your brain’s team: Acknowledge these thoughts, observe them, know that they are just words and slowly slowly, start to stop (start to stop!!) believing them.
Never forget that you are NOT your thoughts, you HAVE thoughts.
So the thought “I’m not good enough” doesn’t mean anything about you’re good enoughness!! 🙂
