The secret: knowing that no matter what, you will be okay.
Brooke Castillo’s Podcast
I started listening to Brooke Castillo from The Life Coach School Podcast and she’s AMAZING.
Since I learned how to coach, I remember her, I’ve read a lot about her. But it’s very recently that I’ve started listening to her podcasts thank’s to Natalie Bacon.
In every podcast, I’m learning something and I feel like “Aha, this makes sense”. I do not necessarily agree with everything she says, but most of it is simply AWESOME.
The difference between self-confidence and confidence
Okay so she recorded a podcast about self-confidence and in it, she said that we need to make the difference between self-confidence and confidence.
She says that “confidence can be specific to practiced skills or talents, for example, some people can say that I’m very confident when it comes to playing basketball. But self-confidence is an overall mindset about your ability in all areas of life that matter to you.”
Then, she explains it perfectly and says that feeling and being self-confident is a matter of knowing that you will be okay and will be able to deal no matter what will happen in that situation.
Basically, this is amazing, because it says that being self-confident isn’t only about practicing the skills that we’re good at. But it’s more than everything, being sure that even if we are not doing it as perfectly as we want to, everything will be okay, we will be okay and that we need to trust ourselves considering this.
This is SO POWERFUL!
In my opinion, we need to get to know ourselves better and to know what we’re good at to grow this self-confidence.
Then, we are more ready to take actions and to put all of our chances on our side that these actions will be successful of course!
But what she is saying here is simply AMAZING. You can do all of what I just said AND also, keep in mind that you will be okay. Why? Because when you think about it, our reactions depend on our own interpretation, which can be very far from real facts 🙂 it’s all in our head!
We can choose how to react to what’s happening to us
Our fear and self-doubts in every situation, wondering “What will happen?”
The first time I thought about this, I was a bit skeptical. It took me a bit of time to realize that it’s true: the thing that makes us having self-doubts is the fear of what can happen.
But when you think about it, WE are the ones giving an interpretation of everything that is happening to us.
Let’s take an example: you’re going to a job interview. You are SO AFRAID. But afraid of what, actually? What can go wrong? Being asked questions that we don’t know how to answer? Not being hired after all? Being judged?
How we react to it
Things will happen a certain way in our life and we are choosing how to react to it.
I know that you may probably say “but sometimes it’s not really my fault!”.
But I can tell you, you don’t need this self-pity on yourself. I learned this in the amazing life-changing course of Natalie Bacon and she was right: there’s no need to feel this way about yourself.
There will be hard times, there will be problems and I like that Tony Robbins is saying that “The only problem we have is that we think that we shouldn’t have any”.
Don’t get me wrong! It’s not solving any of my problems 😉 but in a certain way, it’s giving me more legitimacy to understand it.
You can handle no matter what comes in your way – this is you being confident in yourself
To grow your inner self-confidence, you need to start believing in yourself.
You need to believe that no matter what, you will be okay.
It’s because we are afraid of the negative emotions we may feel that we don’t have self-confidence in ourselves.
But what if I’m telling you that we can learn how to understand our emotions? Then you can become confident that no matter what will happen, if a situation will make you feel positive or negative emotions, YOU WILL BE OKAY.
And this conclusion is worth so much! Right? 🙂
