Who is Jordan Ring?
Jordan is amazing! 🙂
Meet Jordan:
He’s an author, content creator, self-discovery guru that just loves helping people determine what to do with their life!
I like how his homepage looks like on his website:
Sounds promising, right? 🙂
There’s no better place to start your journey to self discovery! 🙂
How did you get interested in the topic of self-discovery journey?
Jordan shares:
“I just discovered how impactful it was for me to learn more about myself, not only my strengths and my skills but also the things that I wasn’t too good at and that I struggled with.
I really saw a huge growth in my work and also my personal life through that discovery!”
Once he started to realize all of these things, he said to himself: “I have a long way to go but at least I’m starting!”
I agree with that! Self-discovery is an on-going process! 🙂
We also talked about the fact that self-discovery is helping us making us more comfortable with who we truly are.
Self-discovery is helping us build our self-confidence!
When you know yourself better, you also feel more at home.
Jordan adds:
“I think that self-discovery is where self-confidence starts! In order to be self-confident, you’ve got to believe in yourself and you have to know who you are.
For example, I know that I’m an introvert and that I need my alone time, and knowing that gives me confidence.
Confidence means that whatever I end up talking about, that’s okay because it’s just me, I don’t have to live up to someone else’s expectations.”
Give yourself your OWN approval!
Jordan and I talked about the fact that we always want to get the approval of other people.
We may ask ourselves:
- What will they say?
- Will they love me?
- What do they think of me?
The approval of others is so important in our eyes.
But what if we would give ourselves our own approval?
I talked about this more in detail in the post The #1 Way To Stop Seeking The Approval Of Others.
Our own approval is the most important approval that you need.
Jordan says that: “If you know yourself, you can filter the feedback and what other people are telling you.
If someone comes up to me and says “hey Jordan!” and question one of my core values or something that is very important to me, that’s a conversation that I really want to have, but if someone is coming and be like “Jordan, you’re really quiet, you’re not talking enough” I’m like “Okay, I already know that about myself so it’s not that surprising, I don’t need to think about that too much because I already know that about me!”
What did you do to discover yourself?
Jordan answers that it’s an on-going project.
He says:
“I think it really started with the belief that you can be better.
Where am I at? Regardless of who I am and what have I already done in my life?
I can be better and I can understand myself.
Some people think “I’m a confusing person and I’m not sure what I really like”.
So first, it’s about knowing that you can discover yourself.
To me, it was back when I was 25 and I asked myself: What have I been doing with my life up to this point?
I needed to dig and figure out what I wanted to do.
For me, it was reading, I’ve developed a love for reading and just trying to get out a thing from each book.
So, reading to me was really the key to self-discovery and all that stuff!”
Jordan wrote 6 books!
He wrote 6 books and currently writing his 7th book!

How is self-discovery related to building one’s self-confidence?
Jordan says:
“It definitely relates because if you can understand more about yourself, who you are and who you want to be too, this is the start of self-confidence.
People are more it’s either/or.
They either say: “You’ve made up of who you were and that’s all you’re going to be”.
Other people would say: “You’re not who you were in the past, you’re who you want to be in the future!”
I think it’s a mix of these things.
I think that we can decide our destiny.
We can overcome and get better at certain things, but down the line I’m still me, I still have tendencies, there are still things that I’m going to go back to, and there are things that I don’t want to change about myself, even things that I don’t necessarily like about me, they are a part of me.
All of those pieces together will lead us to be more confident as humans, getting better at every task we’re doing.”
He’s definitely the expert when it comes to starting your self discovery journey the right way! 🙂
One great tip to build your self-confidence…
This is Jordan’s advice:
One tool that I’m sharing with a course School of You and that is really easy to do, it’s a great way to get to know yourself a bit better, is the following one.
Reach out to 5 of your closest friends and ask them:
“Hey friend, what do you see as my personal strengths, and what is a trait or characteristic unique to me? All feedback is welcome! Thank you!”
Not only you get to ask your friends, but you also get to share it back with your friends, it’s a great opportunity to have deeper conversations.”
It’s a great idea!
I asked Jordan if people came up with the same answers or maybe different ones… He says:
“People came up with different answers! Very surprising to me.
It matches with what I knew about myself, but I never wrote it down, it was a core piece of me.
It was very valuable!”
Jordan is the right one to point you at asking yourself the best self discovery questions out there! 🙂
