Honestly, it’s not as complicated as you may think it is!
Let’s get to the big lines of it:
1. Fun stuff!
All the guys that I asked are agreeing on this: They want to have fun!
Going on dates, meeting new people, they would enjoy way more all of the process if they could have FUN!
So, talk about fun stuff such as:
- What humor do they like!
- What jokes they know/prefer!
- What funny movies they like!
- What fun TV shows they like!
2. Interesting stuff!
Of course, they also like to talk about interesting stuff such as:
- Not only funny but every kind of movie, TV show…
- Hobbies
- Passions
- Concerts/kind of music that exists
- Families, childhood memories…
- Biggest dreams & hopes!
3. Don’t overthink it, make it complicated!
Sometimes, you may think sooo much about what to say, how to say it, if you’re saying the right thing!
But, don’t overthink it!
Just imagine you’re going out with friends/a friend, you wouldn’t overthink how things will go, what you guys can talk about, right?
So, don’t overthink what to talk about with guys, just use the ideas I shared above and go with the flow!
4. Listen genuinely to what they are sharing!
Honestly, when it comes to things to talk about with guys, sometimes, you can find yourself thinking a lot about WHAT to talk about when the easiest is just to listen to the other person!
As I always say, down the line, all that we want, everybody, is to be heard, seen, and understood.
And it’s quite easy for you to do! You don’t even have to do anything!
Just be there when they’re talking, look into their eyes, and really LISTEN!
Ask questions about their childhood, their families, and really, LISTEN to what they are sharing with you.
No need to bring it back to yourself, just listen to them! 🙂
5. Think of the FUN and CONNECTION!
When it comes to what to talk about with guys, we often have lots of expectations from the other one and from the date.
We want things to go a certain way, we want to know if this will lead somewhere or not, to make sure we are not losing time, but this doesn’t sound like fun!
And for sure, it’s more creating separation than connection.
And deep down, what we all want is a strong and real relationship, right?
So, talk about things that are interesting, listen to the other one, and this will create a REAL connection!
So, without overthinking it, of course, think about having fun and creating connection! 🙂
6. No need to talk about “things” yet!
You might think that bringing up “hot topics” may save you time in the long run!
But actually, you don’t have to talk about these things with guys during the first dates…
- If they want to get married
- If they want kids
- What they don’t want in a partner
- Etc.
Of course, at some point, it’s important to talk about these things, but in the very beginning, I think that it’s kind of ruining the magic of meeting someone new!
Then, you put them in a box and it’s hard to let them out!
So, focus on what to talk about with guys and to have fun, and create connection!
