How do self-confident people behave?
What are their reactions?
In fact, I’ve been observing people that shows a lot of self-confident and these are the behaviors that I discovered.
I truly believe that everyone can build their self-confidence and that you can also develop these behaviors!
Let’s have a look at them…!
What is confident behaviour?
A behaviour is a way that someone acts and reacts in a specific situation.
And what makes it confident is really the person’s attitude at that moment.
They do their thing, they don’t care what others might think or say.
They are confident in themselves in what they are doing! 🙂
What are some examples of confidence?
If you’re interested in some examples of self-confidence, you need to have a look at this post called 6 Self-Confidence Examples to Help You Live Your Best Life!
As you will go through the examples, you’ll see that what is important and what these persons did is that they consistently took actions.
And even when it got hard, they never gave up! 🙂
Also, they didn’t care what others thought of them, they’ve just decided to do it and to give themselves 100% into it!
Is confidence a behaviour?
There is a little distinction here to make.
I talked about it in this post called The Secret To Self-Confidence.
Brooke Castillo from The Life Coach School says that confidence is related to one specific ability in something you can do. For example, you are confident when it comes to making the laundry! You know how to do it! 🙂
But self-confidence is a mindset that you can have that makes you believe that no matter what’s happening, you know you will be okay.
Because you believe in yourself and in your abilities!
So, having self-confidence is not a behavior, but more a way that you are feeling towards yourself.
Then, you can have confident behaviors and this, we’ll talk about it a bit later in this post!

What is a self confident person?
“To be Self-confident” means that we trust ourselves and our abilities. It’s about accepting who we really are, embracing it and feeling comfortable in our own skin.
It doesn’t mean that we will succeed in everything we do! It means that we will be okay no matter what. It means that we might fall but still, we are never giving up and taking action on a daily basis towards something that we really want!
Self-confidence is a skill to develop. We may think that people were born with it, but it’s not true! Everyone can become super self-confident if they want it to! 🙂
It’s really like playing the piano! You can learn how to be self-confident, just like you can learn how to play the piano! 🙂
What are the behaviors of a confident person?
Let me share with you the 14 behaviors of someone who’s feeling self-confident:
1. They are not taking things personally
No matter what people are saying, it always says something about THEM.
For example, if they criticize something/someone, it’s on something that is important to THEM, not really against that self-confident person!
2. They don’t need to be right all the time
They aren’t interested in convincing others. They understand that people have their opinion for a reason and this is why they aren’t trying to convince others to think like them.
3. They are always questioning their opinions and thoughts
They like to debate with others which is helping them in questioning themselves, their beliefs and their opinions.
They never have fixed opinions on things and are always open-minded to change their ideas.
Also, they know that the thoughts they have are creating the results that they have in their life. So they aren’t afraid of questioning those thoughts too and in case, to change or adapt them to what they want to achieve.
4. They take action consistently and they see everything as an opportunity
It’s not always easy but they are taking action on a daily basis. They like challenges and are most of the time, not procrastinating! 😉
It can happen of course (!), but they are taking small steps every day.
5. They are not afraid of failing and to try new things
Trying new things is something that is stimulating to them!
If they don’t get the results that they want after trying something, they are not making it mean anything.
They keep taking action, failing, trying new things until something works and they succeed! 🙂
6. They know how to say “no”
When you’re saying “no” to something, it’s because you’re saying “yes” to something else.
They are thinking before saying “yes” to something because even if they are very spontaneous, they are very reliable people and when they say “yes”, they WILL show up.
They learned and practiced how to say no and are not afraid of doing it.
7. They don’t compare themselves to others
They know that they are really unique with their qualities and their flaws.
They compare themselves to who they used to be and who they’re going to be.
They are comparing themselves to others only to people that are inspiring them to be a better version of themselves! 🙂
8. They take care of themselves (self-care…)
They take the time every week for themselves. They plan this time on their agenda like they would make plans with anybody else.
They read, meditate, do sport, go out with some friends because they know that this helps them be more productive and less resentful.
9. They accept feedback (and compliment!)
They are open-minded to constructive feedback so they can be better and do things in a better way.
They are also accepting compliments and are very humble and modest! 🙂
10. They understand their emotions
They know how to deal with any emotions that they may have.
They aren’t afraid of feeling what’s going on inside of them, they aren’t resisting them and are curious and compassionate towards themselves.
11. They are really empathetic
They are putting themselves in other people’s shoes and feel their emotions.
They know that being empathetic is essential to every relationship and it’s related to not taking things personally!
12. They listen genuinely to others (and are interested in others!)
When someone is talking to them, they are really listening to them, they don’t just appear to be listening.
They are interested in what other people are saying, they know that they can learn from what others are saying, they are curious and want to understand better how others work.
Remember, they also are very open-minded and are fascinated by the way others are thinking!
13. They look into people’s eyes
When someone is talking to them, they are listening carefully. But also, they are looking into this person’s eyes!
When they talk, it’s almost impossible to look into somebody’s eyes, but when they listen, they pay real attention to what the other one is saying.
14. They have self-belief and compassion towards themselves
Like we talked about it in the conversation I had with Kevin, having self-belief is ESSENTIAL.
They know that self-confidence starts with the way they are thinking and this is why they believe in themselves and in their worth.
They have compassion towards themselves and aren’t beating themselves up.
How can I look confident?
By having those behaviors, you’ll be able to look more self-confident!
Also, being already more self-aware is very important.
Knowing that you want to be and look more self-confident is already a great start! You can start by paying attention to self-confident people and to imitate them!
If you’re interested in being more self-aware, you have to read this post called Why Is Self Awareness Important?
When it comes to your body language, these are the things that you can do to look even more confident:
- Look into people’s eyes!
- Stand straight!
- Let your hands out, don’t put them in your pockets
- Keep your arms open, don’t cross them! 🙂
- Talk loud enough (no need to scream!)
- Wear comfortable (and clean!) clothes
In the end, what you need to do is to practice, practice and again practice self-confidence! 🙂
It’s like any skill that you want to develop, you can do this! 🙂
To sum up!
As you can see, you can have behaviors that will help you build your self-confidence!
It’s definitely a skill that you can develop!
Imagine, being self-confident, how would your life look like!?
What would you be able to accomplish?
To a self-confident YOU! 🙂
